"To Protect and to Serve" - NYPD beats family, kills parakeet

I guess there were no dogs in the house for them to vent their anger on, so they picked the next best target of opportunity.

ST. GEORGE — A Staten Island woman has sued the city claiming police entered her St. George home without a warrant, beat her family and killed her beloved pet parakeet, according to court documents.

Last year, Evelyn Lugo's bird, Tito, was thrown from his cage after it was knocked off a dresser as cops came into her Corson Avenue home, the Daily News first reported.

The officers then stepped on the bird intentionally, killing it, court documents say.

Officers also beat two of Lugo's sons, her daughter and a family friend, the lawsuit claims.

Police focus turns toward victim’s mother in racist graffiti case

Yet another case of deception and crying wolf by the purported 'victim'.

WTF is wrong with these people?

FITCHBURG – The mother of the former Lunenburg High football player whose home was spray-painted last month with racist graffiti is now the target of the investigation into the incident, according to court records and police.

Andrea Brazier was questioned by Lunenburg police and an FBI agent on Nov. 25, according to a search warrant affidavit filed in Fitchburg District Court. During that interview, the FBI agent suggested to Brazier that Brazier was pushing for the investigation to end because she was the one who had scrawled the graffiti, the affidavit said.

“Andrea stated ‘OK,’ ” according to the affidavit filed by Lunenburg Police Detective Jeffrey Thibodeau. “Andrea just kept answering ‘OK’ and that she wanted everything to end and that we did not understand.”

Lieutenant Mike Luth, a Lunenburg police spokesman, told reporters this afternoon that Brazier was a strong suspect and was the only person police were scrutinizing.

More "knockout game" in the news - 6 “Knockout”-Style Attacks Hit The City

I guess these attacks are getting rarer and uncommon as believed by some here.

Medical researcher Lawrence Hsieh, schooled in Taekwondo, didn’t have time to defend himself when a kid KO’ed him on Church Street in one of six assaults in two days that appear to mimic a violent game hitting the East Coast.

Walking on the overpass between North and South Frontage at 5:30 p.m., Hsieh (pictured above) encountered a group of three young men. Without warning, one approached him and sucker-punched him in the nose, knocking Hsieh to the ground. The assailant and his buddies took off down the street, laughing.

“The whole ordeal was over in 30 seconds,” said Hsieh, who may have broken his nose as a result.

Hseih’s attacker was following the script of the so-called “Knockout Game,” which consists of punching random strangers. To become a “Knockout King,” the player must bring his target to the ground with one jab.

The game has been reported in recent days in several East Coast cities, including New York, New Jersey, and Washington D. C. Incidents date back to 2011.

Five other similar attacks took place near Hsieh’s in the early evening hours on Monday and Tuesday. All were near the train station, the Church Street South housing project, and Church Street, according to top Hill South cop Lt. Joe Witkowski.

“The common thing seems to be there’s no attempt at theft. It’s an unprovoked assault,” Witkowski said.

There'll be no tears or remorse from me when these sub-human pieces of shit ends up in the morgue.

Almost a year after Newtown, does anyone care about gun control anymore?

As a non-gun owning Democrat, and as one who is reluctant to enact 'strike while the iron is hot' legislation, can we finally put this issue to rest?

In the aftermath of the Newtown massacre, gun control was ground zero in American politics, captivating the public and politicos alike. It flared again late last month after a gunman killed 12 people at the Washington Navy Yard.

But now, as the first anniversary of Newtown approaches, the forces for gun control have little to celebrate, a lot to mourn and scant hope of change in the near term. On the front lines, activists say they are demoralized and adrift, the movement fraying at the roots as its leaders struggle to reignite a fading national moment for change.

“It’s not going well at all,” says Sally Christ, 56, a donor to Americans for Responsible Solutions, a major gun-control lobby launched this year by former Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Two months ago, she and other supporters celebrated on the waterfront in Portland, Maine, noshing on lobster and looking toward a strong push for gun reform legislation this fall—a push that hasn’t materialized and, thanks to Obamacare and Congress, probably won’t.

When single-issue is a strength
So why doesn’t anyone seem to care? The easy answer from the left involves the NRA, its fervent supporters, gun manufacturers, and words like “greedy” and “heartless.” But the truth is, as always, more complicated.

To make the world safer, the gun control lobby wants fewer guns in the hands of bad guys. The pro-gun side supports the same goal. But it also wants more guns in the hands of the good guys, believing that a bullet is the best way to stop the next unfolding national tragedy. Both sides think the other is crazy and dangerous, but only the pro-gun side seems to have supporters who are passionate enough to focus on almost nothing else.
